Watch out – there’s a violin thief about

Message from Emma Schul in south London:

After many years together, my lovely violin was stolen from my car last Saturday (15/2/2025) in Croydon. It has a very distinctive medallion carved on the back (see photo) of Professor Wilhelmj, making it easily recognisable. This instrument is incredibly important to me, I’ve had it since I was 11. It anyone comes across a violin matching this description – online, second-hand shops or anywhere – please contact me. I’d really appreciate any help spreading the word. Thank you so much Emma Schul 07799185173

North of the river David López Ibáñez, a second violinist in the Philharmonia Orchestra, was eating at the Marquess Tavern in Canonbury on Tuesday evening when his violin was snatched from beside him.

It’s an on-loan Lorenzo Carcassi, made in 1740. Contact David on davidviolin94@gmail.com.
