Interminably troubled ENO names interim chair

The intercity shuttle that is English National Opera has named former Barbican artistic director Louise Jeffreys to plug the gap while its board searches vainly for a big beast who can raise money from public and private sources.

It’s another in a long catalogue of ENO indecisions that brought the company to its knees.

Jefferys has been a freelance arts consultant since leaving the Barbican five years ago.
