Neue Stimmen Finalists

Neue Stimmen Finalists

Liz Mohn Foundation’s Neue Stimmen singing competition has established itself as one of the world’s most important events for promoting emerging talent. The names of former winners such as Vesselina Kasarova, Franco Fagioli, Marina Rebeka and Elsa Dreisig are impressive testimony to the fact that those who win here usually find themselves on the world’s great stages within a few years. In numerous pre-selections around the globe – from New York to London, from Amsterdam to Vienna or Cape Town – the expert scouts of Neue Stimmen search for the best young singers worldwide.

The finals of the competition take place in Gütersloh, the competition’s hometown every other year. In between, a selection of finalists gather at Berlin Staatsoper Unter den Linden for a concert in the German capital. This concert is a unique opportunity to hear how some of the world’s finest young voices are developing in a programme of much Mozart with forays beyond the 18th century with songs by the likes of Mahler and Weill, brought to Slippedisc readers courtesy of OperaVision.
