Riccardo Chailly today presented his last season as music director .
He will open with Lady Macbeth of Mzensk, directed by the Russian, Vasily Barkhatov. It will be the 12th time Chailly has conducted the 7th of December curtain-raiser.
He will also conduct a new production of Nabucco and will end his tenure with Verdi Requiem.
The next Music Director Myung-Whun Chung will conduct Carmen, as well as Otello at the opening of the 2026/2027 season.
Daniele Rustioni will return to La Scala after many years with a new production of Faust. Revivals of Turandot, Lucia and Traviata will be conducted by Nicola Luisotti, Speranza Scappucci and Michele Gamba.
