Terrible news: Maestro is diagnosed with Alzheimers

The much-loved Spanish conductor Juanjo Mena has taken to social media to share some bad health news. He has been diagnosed with Alzherimers Disease, but continues to feel well in himself and will carry on working.

Juanjo, who is 59, has been chief conductor of the BBC Philharmonic in Manchester and the Cincinnati Symphony’s May Festival.

He has appeared with the major US orchestras and many in EUrope, includiung the Berlin Philharmonic and the Filarmonica della Scala.

We send warm wishes to Juanjo, his wife Noemi and their two children. He is a very courageous and dedicated musician.
